Tenali Ramakrishna is known as Vikatakavi. He was a highly learned man, an accomplished poet and worked as the Special Advisor in the court of King Krishnadevaraya, the ruler of Vijayanagar Empire in 16th century.

Pandit Ramakrishna was brought up in his native village Tenali, which is now in Andhra Pradesh.

This great Telugu scholar knew many other languages and he was among the Ashtadiggajas or eight poets in Krishnadevaraya’s royal court.
