Pratap Singh I, popularly known as Maharana Pratap, was a Hindu Rajput king of Mewar. He was titled as "Mewari Rana" and was notable for his military resistance against the expansionism of the Mughal Empire and is known for his participation in the Battle of Haldighati and the Battle of Dewair.

One the greatest Indian warriors, Maharana Pratap was born on May 9 in the year 1540. Maharana Pratap was the ruler of Mewar, a province in modern day Rajasthan. Renowned as a fearsome warrior and an excellent combat strategist, Pratap protected the Mewar region against repeated onslaughts from the Mughals.

Maharana Pratap was a brave and patriotic Rajput with love for his motherland. He was an egoistic but responsible person. He Could have finished him self instead of going into exile but for the sake of his family's responsibility he struggles and survives.

Death. Reportedly, Pratap died of injuries sustained in a hunting accident, at Chavand on 19 January 1597, aged 56. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Amar Singh I.
