Martin Luther was a great monk from Germany. In 1510 CE, he visited Rome, the home of Catholic Church. He started protesting against the corruption and malpractices of the Roman catholic church. He stated that the Bible is the true basis for Christianity. Any Christian who has faith in Jesus Christ and is truly repentant can reach salvation. He translated Bible into German. Since then, the movement came to be known as Protestant movement and the church was split into two, the Catholic and the Protestant.
