Born in Karachi in what was then British India, Mohammed Ali jinnah belonged to a Gujrati Family.

His original surname was the Gujrati, Jinnahbai, which was later changed.

He was an exceptional student and went on to study in the UK where he became famous for his skill and talent. He back to British India and soon became one of the most respected lawyers in Bombay.

He was a supporter of nationalism and believe in the freedom of India from the British. In order to advance his cause, he joined the Congress party to fight for independence.

However rifts soon began between the Hindu and Muslim leaders within Congress and Jinnah eventually left to form his own party, the Muslim league with a state goal of creating a separate homeland for Muslims.

He finally ahcived that on the 14th of August 1947. He is today known as the father of the nation or Baba-e-Qom. He is also known as Quaid-e-Azam or Great Leader
