Scientist Eichler was one of the instrumental biologists in classification of plants. He classified Kingdom Plantae into Subkingdoms Cryptogamae and Phanerogamae.

Eichler is a botanist, classified the kingdom plantae into two subkingdoms. As a result , two subkingdoms, cryptogams and phanerogams were considered for plant classification.
