Shylock is a rich Jew who always cares about his money.He wants to lend 3000ducats inorder to take revenge on his Christian enemy Antonio.

As another person have give ans to 1st part , your next Q should be why Shylock wants Bassanio to borrow .......
he wants Bassanio to borrow bcoz he wanted to take revenge from antonio .when Antonio fails to re- pay the loan shylock uses bond as a weapon ....
