He was a sepoy in the Bengal Native Infantry, a regiment of the East India Company. The rebellion of 1857, starting with the Sepoy Mutiny, is considered as a first blow that came to shatter the British rule in India and the man behind it was none other than Mangal Pandey. He was born on July 19 in the year 1827.
