Planning Commission of India cannot be heard now. It is replaced by NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) from 01–01–2015.
Planning Commission of India(Welcome to Homepage of Planning Commission) was first initiated in India in 1938 by Congress President and Indian National Army supreme leader Netaji to set up a National Planning Committee. This was formed to set up five year plans in India.
Always Prime minister of India would be the chairman of planning commission. Since then, chairman post is not discussed. Only deputy chairman post is thought of.
Modi led NDA government replaced Planning commission with NITI Aayog. He proposed this in his first speech at redfort on 15th August 2014. Now, from 2015 Narendra Modi is the ex-officio Chairman of NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), Government of India) and Rajiv Kumar is the vice chairman of it.
