Cyril Ramaphosa, South African President is the chief guest of India on 26 January 2019.

India’s 70th Republic Day is celebrated on the 26 January 2019 so Mr Ramaphosa was invited as chief guest by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This announcement comes after US President Donald Trump declined invitation to be chief guest by India. Republic Day was honoured as date on which Constitution of India came into effect.
