The Rajya Sabha or Council of States is the Upper House of the Parliament.
The Vice-President of India is the ex-officio chairman of Rajya Sabha.
This is provided in the Article 64 of Indian Constitution that the Vice-president of India is the ex- officio Chairman of Council of States ( Rajya Sabha ) and shall not hold any other office of profit.
Mr. Hamid Ansari was the ex-officio Chairman of Rajya Sabha [August 2012 onwards].
The present ex-officio Chairman of Rajya Sabha is Venkaiah Naidu [since 11 August, 2017 ].
