The Vice President of India is the Exofficio chairman of the Rajya Sabha . He is not a member of the house , nor does he exercises his vote in the house, but in case of equal division , he is entitled to casting his vote.

Tenure -
The Ex officio chairman holds his office for a period of Five years from the date of he assumes his office . He may resign from his office before the expiary of his term. The letter pf resignation is addressed to the president of India. He holds his office , even after the expiary of his term , till new vice president takes over.
