No one really knows how the Earth came to be created. As far as I know, in Greek mythology, there was literally nothing, and the Greek god of nothingness is called Chaos and he created the Earth Goddess Gaia. For aeons, Gaia roamed the earth without a companion and thus Chaos created Ouranus, the God of the Sky. And so the story goes on as we know it, i.e., the birth of the Titans and the rest of the story.
