The Indian national Congress was founded by A.O. Hume on on 28th December, 1885. It was founded at Gokuldas Tejpal Sanskrit college situated in Bombayin the presence of 72 delegates. A.O. Hume was a retired british officer and is also called the Father of Indian Congress.
Womesh Chunder Bonnerjee was then elected president of Congress.
