Amazing question, cause the answer is something I never expected and hence thank you for brining this up. First ever century for India in one day internationals was scored by Kapil Dev, on 18 June 1983 at Nevill Ground in tunbridge wells in UK during Prudential World cup. This was 216th ODI overall, and as I went through match by match finding your answer, I realised so many opposition batters made tons against India but none from the team which has most individual centurions than any other country.
Kapil Dev made 175 that day, unbeaten, breaking the record for highest individual one day score in the process. Indians were 4 wkts down for 9 runs on board in this league match against Zimbabwe when captain walked in, and soon he found his team falling to 7 down for 78. Dev decided to counter attack and his 8th wkt stand with Madan Lal fetched 62 and then, wicket keeper Syed Kirmani batted out 56 balls for his 24 from other end as right handed allrounder smashed 16 fours and 6 sixes.
