President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed a new election commissioner of India. Retired IAS officer Achal Kumar Joti will be the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). He will be succeeding Nasim Zaidi as the 21st CEC. His tenure will end on January 17, 2018.
