Apart from Punjab, people from other northern Indian states of the Punjab region (Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh), Chandigarh and Jammu) become busy making preparations for the festival. Lohri has been celebrated in Jammu since Mughal times. The festival is observed as Lal Loi in the Sindhi community.
