NDTV recently celebrated its 25 years of news broadcasting by acknowledging the ‘25 Greatest Global Indian Living Legends’ for their outstanding contributions. Held in association with Tata Consultancy Services, the legends were acknowledged and felicitated by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, at an awards ceremony held at the Rashtriyapati Bhawan.
NDTV’s 25 Greatest Global Living Indian Legends were Amitabh Bachchan, Anish Kapur, Amartya Sen, A.R. Rahman, C.N.R. Rao, Ela Bhatt, Fali Nariman, Indira Nooyi, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Kapil Dev, Leander Paes, M.S. Swaminathan, Mukesh Ambani, N.R. Narayanmurthy, Rajinikanth, Ratan Tata, Sachin Tendulkar, Dr. S.S. Badrinath, S.H. Raza, Shahrukh Khan, Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, Vikram Seth, Waheeda Rehman, Y.K. Hamied and Zubin Mehta.
Partnering NDTV and Tata Consultancy Services in the celebrations were UFO Media as associate sponsor and Hotel Taj Palace as hospitality partner. Apart from the award ceremony, NDTV also hosted a global summit titled Solutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Prannoy Roy, Executive Co-Chairperson, NDTV, said: “I am here tonight on behalf of everybody at NDTV to thank every single one of you for your trust in us. When we started the first private news on Indian television we were a bundle of nerves and you gave us strength at that time. When we produced India's first 24 hour news channel 15 years ago, you trusted us then too and we value that trust even today. To cap all our emotions today, the 25 Greatest Indian Living Legends have all come here tonight and just by accepting our invitation, they have given the one most valuable thing - their trust.”
Presenting the awards, the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, said: “It’s indeed a pleasure for me to be amidst you this evening and to be associated with recognizing these 25 great Indians. While going through their introduction and some of their comments I found out that one striking commonality in all of them that each and every one of them believes in hard work, honesty, commitment to the job and idea to which they furnish. Therefore what we can draw from the outstanding performances of these 25 great Indians is that we cannot have a shortcut or a bypass to achieve success and reach the top.”
The legends were acknowledged and felicitated by Pranab Mukherjee at an awards ceremony held at the Rashtriyapati Bhawan.
