In the poem "Newton's Law" written by Nandita Das the narrator of the poem is the poet Nandita Das.

  • In the poem one day the poet was being inattentive in science class so when the teacher asked her to explain 'Newton's law of gravity and mass' the poet's mind went blank and her heart started beating faster and louder. She did not even dare to look up at her teacher. The glare of her teacher was itself terrifying. She was trying to answer clumsily because she knew nothing about his laws and whatever her teacher was asking.
  • She was so nervous that she fell on the floor and the whole class busted into laughter. They all made fun of her. The teacher then said that she demonstrated gravity without even intending to demonstrate or to answer the question. And then the students applauded her when she went back to her seat.
