Rabindranath Tagore Bengali, also write Ravīndranātha Thākura](7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941), sobriquet Gurudev, was a Bengali polymath who reform Bengali writing and melody, as well as Indian fine art with environment innovation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Author of Gitanjali and its "profoundly susceptible, new and stunning verse", he became the first non European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 Tagore's poetic songs were viewed as spiritual and mercurial; however, his "graceful prose and mysterious poetry" remain largely unknown external Bengal.  He is from time to time referred to as "the Bard of Bengal"
