Only one is not the pride of Kannadigas. In fact, there are a lot of people who are the Pride of Kannadigas, as well as of India. They are:

Kittur Rani Chennamma (ಕಿತ್ತೂರು ರಾಣಿ ಚೆನ್ನಮ್ಮ):

Shankar Nag (ಶಂಕರ ನಾಗ್)

Shankar Nag was another popular Kannada actor in the Sandalwood (Kannada) Cinema. His movies are very versatile to watch especially the film “Nodi Swamy Navirodu Hige” which came in 1983. I don’t know his achievements outside of cinema, but when I came to Bengaluru, almost in every Autorickshaw had the picture of Shankar Nag and I felt that’s how his legacy is celebrated.

Anil Kumble (ಅನಿಲ್ ಕುಂಬ್ಳೆ)

Anil Kumble is a former cricketer and also former coach of Indian Cricket Team from Karnataka. He is the third-highest wicket taker of all time in Test Cricket with 619 Test Wickets. He became the second bowler to dismiss all ten players in a time which was against Pakistan (10/74). He is the fourth Indian Cricketer to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. He even bowled with a broken jaw. Such was the commitment of cricket by Anil Kumble.

Venkatesh Prasad (ವೆಂಕಟೇಶ್ ಪ್ರಸಾದ್)

Venkatesh Prasad is a former cricket and also former bowling coach of Indian Cricket Team from Karnataka. He took 96 Test Wickets and 196 ODI Wickets. One memorable moment in his career was during the Quarter Finals of the 1996 Cricket World Cup against Pakistan, he dismissed Aamer Sohail the very next ball after the sledging he received from him.

Javagal Srinath (ಜಾವಗಲ್ ಶ್ರೀನಾಥ್)

Javagal Srinath is a former cricketer and now ICC Match Referee from Karnataka, India. He is the first Indian fast bowler to take more 300 wickets in ODIs. He is the second Indian fast bowler to take 200 wickets in Tests. He is the joint-highest wicket taker in World Cups along with Zaheer Khan where they took 44 Wickets each.

So yeah, these are the people who are the Pride of Kannadigas, Pride of Karnataka, and Pride of India. Even I admire these people so much than anything. If I miss out on anyone who is important or pride for Karnataka, kindly comment on my answer, suggest edits, or ping me in my message box. Hope you all read and liked my answer.

Is this the same map does Kannada speaking region hold from the day one when Kannada originated? Answer is Absolutely not. Or is it same map Kannada region holds for the past 1000 years. Answer is No. Atleast from the past 100 years. You can expect the same answer i.e. no. Then when does this map or region came into picture. Just before some 60 years i.e. November 1st which is why it's celebrated as Karnataka Rajyotsava. There is an effort behind it. And there are persons behind that effort. Among all Alur Venkatrao stood first in the line.

Alur Venkatrao is the pride of Kannadigas. Because of him we can visualize the above picture(map/region) whenever we thought of OUR HOMELAND.
