→ Living things are made up of tiny living parts or compartments called cells. Cell is the basic Unit of life. Both plants and animals are made up of cell.

→ In fact, Every function of living being is their cells. Hence, cell is called the structural and functional unit of life or living organisms.

→ Some Living organisms like Amoeba and bacteria have only one cell in their body, known as unicellular organisms.

→Robert Hooke was an English scientist who made contributions to many different fields including mathematics, optics, mechanics, architecture and astronomy. He is remembered for his work as The Father of Microscopy. He coined the term "Cell" To explain basic unit of life.
He saw cells for the first time in 1665, in a thin slice of cork. He observed them as "honey comb" like structures and named them as Cells
