Viviparous animals are those animals which give birth to young ones. Higher vertebrates are viviparous like cow, horse, humans, etc. Usually vertebrates of class Mammalia are viviparous but some of the lower mammalians are egg laying like echidna. Some mammals are marsupial means they give birth to immature young ones which later get developed in the marsupial pouch like kangaroo. The higher mammalians are viviparous in true sense because they give birth to fully developed young ones. Birth of fully developed young ones is also attributed to the presence of a highly developed placenta which helps the embryo to develop fully in mother's womb. Placenta fulfill all the necessary requirements of the developing embryo so that the young one is fully developed at the time of birth.
