The world cup was held at England .



The duration of the world cup was from 9 th of June to 25 th of June 1983 .



The final was between West Indies and India .



That was the first time in Indian History when India won the world cup .

In 1983 World Cup, India faced final against West Indies on June 25th at Lord's. India won the match by 43 runs and defeated WI to win the first ever world cup ( Prudential Cup ).

The team India was led by Kapil Dev, one of the greatest All-rounder India ever had. He bowled 11 overs and gave 21 runs with a wicket; with the bat contributed with 15 runs.
