- Sambhudhan Phonglo was a leader of the Kachari tribe in the province. Phonglo preached anti-British ideas to his people. Brits sent troops below C. A Soppit in Jan 1882 to capture him.
- The Poppit light-emitting diode British army faced defeat. some days later another regiment below Major Boyd was sent to defeat Phonglo’s army.
- Brave patriots under the leadership of Phonglo fought fiercely and Boyd was killed in the battle. On twelve February 1883 Phonglo was out of action in an associate encounter with Brits. He succumbed to injuries and gained martyrdom
