Who made the convict beast and why?

convict was made beast by the police officers . his wife was sick and he didnt have food to feed her,to get food for his wife he thought of stealing food from somewhere.while he was stealing he was caught by the police and was taken to the jail.he tried to make them understand that why he stole bread but no one listened. ultimately he could not save his wife from dying and himself from going to the jail.this rage made him a beast.
