Emperor shah jahan moved his capital from Agra to Delhi, and when he did this,he commissioned structure of red fort on 12th may 1639, when he decided to shift his capital from Delhi to Agra.
his favorite colors were also red and white. so us-tad Ahmed lahuari made this fort of red and white. the red fort was made so that capital which he shifted could shine more than Agra. The Delhi capital served as capital of the Mughal Empire since 1638.
