Balkan Plan (1947) was the brain child of Mountbatten, which means he prepared the plan for launching.

This plan envisaged the transmission of power to separate provinces with Punjab and Bengal, who were given the option to vote for partition of their provinces.

The partitioned units thus shaped will have the choice to join India or Pakistan or remaining independent.
