The cell theory that all the plants and animals are composed of cells and that the cell is the basic unit of life was presented by two biologists, Schleiden and Schwann. Then the cell theory was further expanded by Virchow.
Hope it helps.

Two Germans M.J. Schleiden (Botanist in 1838) and Theodor Schwann (Zoologist in 1839) collectively formulated the cell theory.
And in 1855 a German physiologist, Rudolf Virchow proposed this.
He gave the phrase : "Omnis-cellula-e-cellula".
This phrase means- All cells arise from pre existing cells .
Cell theory features :
• Cell is the basic unit of structure of plants and animals both.
• It is the basic unit of function as well as the metabolic reactions take place inside the cell.
