Theodor Schwann and Matthias Jakob Schleiden proposed the cell theory.
MJ Schleiden was a German botanist while Theodor Schwann was a German zoologist.
They gave the follows :
• Viruses are not true cell.
• Every living organism is made up of cells.
Further the cell theory was modified by Rudolf Virchow.
He gave the phrase , " Omnius Cellula e cellula".
According to it all the Living beings arise from cells.
