R.H.Whittaker proposed a give kingsm of classification in 1969.
The kingdoms defined by him were named Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantea and Animalia.

The main criteria for classification used by him include cell structure, thallus organisation, mode of nutrition, reproduction and phylogenetic relationships.

In 1969, Robert H. Whittaker proposed a Five- Kingdom System of Classification, in which all organisms are placed into five kingdoms.

Five kingdoms are :-

Kingdom Monera

Kingdom Protista

Kingdom Fungi

Kingdom Plantae

Kingdom Animalia
