Answer: Mucus

Hiii...

In the process of digestion, the food particles go through various chemical reactions and organs. One of the organs in the stomach, the stomach contains small glands called gastric glands which produce a juice called gastric juice. The gastric juice contains 3 enzymes. The enzymes are:

Pepsin - protein digesting enzyme

Mucus - Protects the lining of the stomach

Hydrochloric acid - kills mocrobes and activates pepsin

Now this hydrochloric acid is produced to kill microbes and create an acidic medium so that the Pepsin can be activated. But since hydrochloric acid is a very powerful acid, it can damage our stomach. To prevent that, Mucus is produced, it is a protective layer which protects the lining of the stomach from Hydrochloric acid.

Hope this was clear and helpful for you

I hope we come across each other again

Thank You and have a Great Day  :D
