Aurangzeb
The jizya tax was initiated by Qutb-ud-din Aibak. Jizya was abolished by the Mughal ruler Akbar in the 16th century. In 1679 Aurangzeb reintroduced the jizya. Jizya was a tax levied by the Muslim rulers on Hindu residents of the territory in return for their protection.
