Pulakesin II ruled the deccan after the death of harshavardhana. Harshavardhana ascended a throne of Kannauj and Thaneshwar on the death of his brother named Rajyavardhana.
By the 612 Harshavardhana consolidated his overall kingdom in the northern region of India. In 620 A.D.
Harshavardhana actually invaded the Chalukya kingdom in Deccan that was ruled by Pulakesin II.
