because in democracy rulers are elected by the people and these rulers work for the people that's why we can say that democracy sands for of the people by the people and for the people

Abraham Lincoln said "Democracy is for the people, to the people, from the people" because he wanted to unite whole of America. He wanted that people know that democracy is the best form of government. He wanted to abolish slavery.
