- In the story "The Lost Child" written by Mulk Raj Anand a kind man saved the child's life. The man who had saved the child had a heart full of sincerity. He did not avoid the sad shrieks of the boy calling for his parents.
- Staking his own protection, he bent down in the crowd for rescuing the child from getting crushed. He forgot his own intention of visiting the shrine and did his best to calm and reassure the scared boy.
- He spoke to him very politely and asked about his parents. When he did not get any answer from the child, he did not lose patience rather, he attempted to make him feel at comfort and offered him the small things that children love.
- The man simply tried to appease the child so that he could help him to find his parents. His character, therefore, expresses the human values of compassion, understanding, respect and love.
