The Dual System of Government in Bengal was set up by Lord Robert Clive between the time period of 1765 – 1772. According to this system, the administration was divided into Niamat and Diwani and the company had the entire power in its hands. The Nawabs were the puppets controlled by the British men and pensioners of the “East India Company”.
Warren Hastings removed the dual system and then Bengal was directly controlled by the Britishers.
