He chose Jamshedpur to set up his iron and steel plant because of the following reasons:-

1.It was near the confluence of the rivers Subarnarekh and Kharkai in Jharkhand.

2.This place was only 32 km away from Kalimati station on the Bengal-Nagpur railway line.
