• Audit (Drug Utilisation Evaluation)
• Approve protocols, guidelines for treatment/choice (algorithms)
• Approve/produce policy and procedures related to the prescribing/ dispensing/
administration process.
2. Ensure safe, cost effective use of medicines
• Manage the introduction of new drugs and follow up with a review as appropriate.
• Consider applications for compassionate requests
• Formulary management, including regular review of existing drugs such as antibiotics
