Sant Namdev was a washer man who was a poet from Maharashtra. He was a Sikh and known to be as a holy man. He wrote devotional poetry which was a mixture of Hindu and Muslim religion style and it was acceptable to Sikh system. His family was devotees of Vithala and when Namdev was just two years old his first word came from the mouth was Vithala. He was married at the age of eleven to Rajabal.
