Gandhi was a Hindu and Khan a Muslim. Khan popularized Gandhi's teachings among Muslims. Some one hundred thousand Muslims joined his "Khudai Khidmatgar" or "Servers of Allah" movement. In time Khan convinced them of the need to follow Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy.
