Almas Javed was a ten year old girl whose family died in a Tsunami . Almas was saved as she climbed on a floating wooden log.

  • One day when Almas family was sleeping, her father felt  tremors due to an earthquake.
  • He saw the surface of the sea recede and understood the water will come with great force. He woke up everyone and tried to hurry them to a more safe position.
  • When they ran, something fell on Almas' grandfather head and he had fallen down. Her father hastened to support him. Suddenly, a giant wave came which swept away both.
  • The mother and aunt were clinging to a coconut tree, sadly the wave uprooted the tree, and swept them away, too.
  • Almas saw a floating wooden log and climbed into it. She collapsed asn was bough to Kamorta hospital. She was carried into Port Blair from there.
