The writer of story of Appa-mam is Padma Hejmadi.

EXPLANATION:

    In Tamil ‘mam’ means Uncle. The man is sanyasi and he enjoys in living. But as the days passed, he was proved to be a cheater. All the members of the family used to call him as uncle and elders used to call him as appamam.

    But many other people outside the house used to call him old burnt face. Once the narrator’s mother took him to Madras to spend few days with her grandparents. There he met Appamam who was reading newspaper and smoking bidi.

    He used to go some pilgrimages without informing anyone at home, come back even after 2 to 3 days. Slowly, family members observed that he was stealing money, food and was distributing to poor people. By this, followers have been increased.

    One fine day may people came to visit appamam, they were showing the respect and towards appamam. All the family members were shocked by seeing this. One day narrator found that his mother’s earrings were missing and at the same time appamam was also missing from three days.
