the first Inspector General of forests in india was Dr Dietrich Brandis. he was a German forest officer. He was the man who divided the forests into “reserved”, “protected” & “village forests”.

basically he was responsible for large scale displacement of tribes in India.

He was responsible for a large scale deforestation in india., as all the good trees were cut for britishers to build railway sleepers & ships.
