Palika in 1864, dietrich brandis set up the 'indian forest service' (IFS) and helped to formulate the indian forest act of 1865.
*he encouraged/advised for 'scientific forestry' where in place of natural forests, one type of trees were planted in straight rows. according to the forests act in 1878 there were three categories of forests- Reserved, Protected and village forests. Villagers were not allowed to take anything from the forests.According to the plan-'forest officials' surveyed and planned that every year how much of the plantation will be cut and replanted so that trees remain always ready to be cut again, in some years.
*in 1906, the Imperial Research institute was set up in Dehradun.(if u read this and understand it would be easy).

I believe this answer helped you
