Begum Hazrat Mahal(born in 1820 in Faizabad) who was also known as the 'Begum of Awadh'(present day Lukhnow) was the first wife of Nawab Wajib Ali Shah. She opposed the British East India Company during the Indian rebellion of 1857. She died on 2 April 1879 in Kathmandu.
