Bruno was a sloth bear.

Once the narrator and his friends were passing through the sugarcane fields near Mysore. Bruno's mother was shot by the narrator's companions and this little creature had been riding on its mothers back,Bruno ran around the prostrated body of its mother making a pitiful noise. The narrator caught Bruno and put it in a gunny bag. He brought him and gifted him to his wife.
