Bodhi-Dharma, was an Indian saint . He was the one who founded the Japanese Zen school of Buddhism in 520 A.D
Bodhidharma, began to feel exhausted during his meditation. Rather than succumb to sleep, Bodhidharma cut out his eyelids so that he could continue to meditate without falling asleep. Ten tea plants then grew out of his eyelids, which when added to boiling water, drove away any traces of sleep. Thus, tea was discovered.
