Mangal Pandey sparked the 1857 revolt.

Sepoys marched to Delhi and declared bahadur shah zafar and declared him as emperor of India. The sepoys wanted to drive the heartless Britishers out of india and wanted bahadur shah zafar to rule india. But he was captured and sent to rangoon in burma in 1859 along with his wife begum zinat mahal. In 1862,he died in the jail itself.
