Who was Dietrich Brandis?explain his contribution towards the causes of preservation of forests in India.

The British were worried that the use of forest by local ppl would destroy the forest.
So they decided to invite Brandis for advise and made him the 1st Inspector General of forest in India.
He introduced the rules and the new forest resource.
He set up Indian Forest Service in 1864 and passed an act in 1865
