Edward (Ed) Matthew Giant IV, 37, of Brenham died May 19, 2018. He was born March 31, 1981 in Vallejo, CA, the son of Edward Matthew Giant III and Deborah Kay Giant. Ed was the first born and enjoyed being the center of attention. In a way, he never grew out of this. He quickly learned how to be a big brother when his brother David was born in May of 84 shortly after Ed’s 3rd birthday. By the time Michael was born, Eddie was 8 years old and had mastered the art of being a big brother by being David and Michael’s protector.
Once Ed was a teenager, he began his lifelong passion for fitness. It started with playing basketball. He also enjoyed chasing girls. He was pretty good at both. Ed did get into some trouble before finishing high school. He did not graduate but he did obtain his GED. Ed never had too much interest in school. His main areas of study was basketball and girls.
Ed’s first love was as a teenager with a wonderful young lady named Madison. They created an amazing son named Ethan. Ed was by no means perfect and unfortunately struggled with addiction. With time, Ed was able to turn his life around and overcame his struggles. Recently, Ed reached out to Madison, asking how Ethan was doing and was delighted to hear what a wonderful young man he is.
Ed worked for Gaston Wrecker Service as a tow truck driver. He loved his job so much and the day he found out he was hired was one of the greatest days in his life. It was a turning point towards a better life. He knew everything would be ok. He was working towards accomplishing his goals and creating the life he always wanted. Ed felt a sense of pride in being able to help people in their time of need.
Ed worked a lot which left no time for one of his favorite pastimes of playing poker. He loved playing cards especially Texas Hold Em. Ed and David were able to take a vacation to play poker in Vegas before Michael was 21. He hoped one day he could return to Vegas.
Ed’s life was full of many ups and downs. He learned to focus on what really mattered most to him; family, fitness, working hard, and a healthy lifestyle. Ed would often share his vast knowledge on healthy eating and exercise tips with anyone that asked. He was obsessed with healthy food including protein bars, protein cookies, yogurt and mushrooms. He was such a strong individual inside and out who overcame so much which helped shape his positive outlook on life. Ed was the protector and helper.
Ed is survived by his brother and best friend Michael, his son Ethan, his grandmother Francis, grandfather Edward M. Giant Jr. and father Edward M. Giant III. He also has numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Texas and California. Ed had friendships that were an extension of his family to include Aron, Jon and the entire Gaston Wrecker Team. Ed now gets to be with his beloved mother Deborah and brother David.
